PLC Data Logging to Microsoft Excel

An increase in PLC Data Logging applications that we’ve been asked to help out with has enabled us to work on a few interesting projects lately….
 
You’ll see pictures below of some of the PLC Data Logging applications that we’ve complete

d using USB memory sticks and HMIs. The first picture is using a Pro-face AGP3750-T1-D24 15” Touch Screen HMI, the second ones are for a Siemens MP277 10” Touch Key HMI application. Files are typically created as a .csv or .skv extension which can then be imported and opened within Microsoft Excel for monitoring and graphical analysis as required.
 



 
Another typical application that we supplied was for an existing customer of ours who had a new requirement for a Control System with the ability to view and printout production data in Microsoft Excel, and we we’re of course happy to lend a hand.
 
The system which was to be used in the food and drinks industry had to reliable log production data from the PLC, which then had to be retained in a hard copy, paper format.
 
Our solution was to provide a control system consisting of a Mitsubishi FX3G PLC and Mitsubishi Beijers E Series HMI terminal which carried out the necessary PLC Data Logging and trending of the PLC data as required. At the end of the day’s production the data is stored onto a USB memory stick from the HMI and then uploaded as required onto a PC. The user is then able to open a specially designed Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that we provided which imports and graphically displays the PLC data in the correct way.
 
The user can then save the spreadsheet and obtain a printout for their records.
 
It’s exciting times as far as PLC Data Logging, data export and monitoring is concerned and we are seeing more and more requests from customers both new and old alike who demand far greater knowledge as to the status of their plant or process, and rightly so!
 
We’re able to provide all elements of the data logging, including a tailored Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet showing the graphical information you require from your system, process or plant.
